Mexikotrax
Mexikotrax is an idea, a location, a title, and a home studio. For the past few years,
i've been using it as a kind of virtual label for my mash-up remixes, but it seems
it may soon become a reality.
The Sôhei Album will feature a lot of new mash-ups, but it will also feature original material (progressive hip-hop). The time has finally come to get back to creating stuff on our own.
Butter B and Arsen R are good friends of mine and i've known and worked with them on-and-off for more than ten years. Our former projects include a college party band, Origin Unknown (a King Crimson / Nirvana / Primus -influenced rock band - and yes, we had the name before the UK D&B outfit), and most recently, the progressive hip-hop formation Three To A Match, which performed only one (very well received) concert a couple years ago.
Things trickled out a bit afterwards, as i had some first successes with my mash-ups and begin devoting a lot of time to them, Arsen continued with his various jazz projects, and all of us were heavily involved in wage slavery.
The next project looks like it will center around Butter B and myself, with Arsen contributing his guitar skills to the tracks he likes. A step in this direction will be our guest rapping over a couple tunes at Arsen's next latin/jazz concert.
Stay tuned!
